Filtration and Infusion Management

Presenter: Catherine Kane, BSN, RN, Clinical Specialist Pall Corporation

The goals of this presentation are to understand common filtration guidelines and current practices, risks associated to the infusion of unfiltered IV solutions and benefits to IV filtration. We will discuss commonly filtered administrations such as: TPN/lipids, monoclonal antibodies, commonly filtered drugs and common uses for filtration in the inpatient setting. We will explain about the hazards to infusing entrained air, particles, endotoxins and how filtration relates to decreasing the incidences of phlebitis.

One CEU will be awarded upon completion.
